Eric Church, Hardy, Morgan Wallen, and Darius Rucker Had An Epic Jam Session
Late last night Morgan Wallen posted an Instagram video. At first glance, it looks like a video of him acoustically performing his track “Sand In My Boots”. But there is so much more to unpack in this 2 and a half minute video. Wallen, sitting on a couch, is joined by pal Hardy. That’s not surprising as they are good friends, have written and recorded songs with each other, and have toured together. Next to Hardy sits Eric Church. Wallen and Church have been seen together a few times in the past couple months so again it’s not too shocking. On the other side of Wallen sits Darius Rucker. The video features Morgan singing the track while Hardy and Eric Church play acoustic guitar and eventually harmonize. And it’s a great rendition of the song. And it’s Eric Church, Hardy, Morgan Wallen, and Darius Rucker which is epic. But that’s far from the best thing about the video.
First, we have to talk about Darius just kicking back and relaxing throughout the whole performance. He either has no idea he is being filmed or is just that caught up in the music. At one point he does take a sip of a drink and enthusiastically claps at the end, but considering he is the only one not participating he definitely stands out. Then there is Eric Church. Listen Church is The Chief and has that title for good reason. But I wasn’t expecting to see this side of him. He replaced his roughed-up, tough-guy image including his signature hat and aviators with a polo and glasses. I mean he looks good as ever but I’m just not used to seeing him this clean cut. And next to the mullets of Hardy and Wallen it stands out.
But my favorite thing is the white wine he is drinking, and even reaches for mid-song. I had not pegged him as a wine drinker, but now I want to have a full-blown conversation with him about it and maybe split a bottle?
Here is the video, I recommend watching it several times to take it all in. And if Eric Church, Hardy, Morgan Wallen, and Darius Rucker want to tour together I fully support it.
