This Is Why Your Seasonal Allergies Are Worse This Year
It’s currently peak allergy season in the East Coast which means a lot of people are currently feeling their seasonal allergy symptoms, but for some reason many people are feeling more miserable this year according to CNBC Make It.
Dr. Purvi Parikh is an allergist and immunologist with the Allergy & Asthma Network. Parikh says that these more severe allergy symptoms are likely being caused by the warmer winter and earlier start to the allergy season. The good thing is there’s ways to potentially alleviate these terrible allergy symptoms.
How To Reduce Pollen In Your Home
Pollen is usually at its daily peak in the morning. This means keeping your windows shut during this time is a good idea. It’s also a good idea to keep windows shut all day if possible because it can help to prevent allergens from entering your home.
Parikh says that it’s a good idea to “change clothes, take off shoes and shower to avoid bringing pollen into [the] house with you.”
Some additional tips for keeping your house pollen-free include: using an air purifier, avoiding ceiling fans to avoid dust circulation, changing sheets once a week, vacuuming often, and to avoid drying clothes outside if possible.
Parikh also suggests taking over the counter allergy medications from your local pharmacy if you experience allergy symptoms. Generic brands are usually just as good well-known brands if you don’t want to pay the high price, just make sure to check the ingredients and see if it’s the same thing.
