Cate Blanchett shocked fans when she revealed how much she made while starring in Lord of the Rings.

So How Much Was It

During a visit to Watch What Happens Live, Cate told host Andy Cohen that she and other castmates "weren't paid anything" to appear in the popular trilogy.  "I got free sandwiches, and I got to keep my ears," revealed Cate.

But The Film Made How Much

Cate revealed she didn't even get a piece of the back end and "worked for peanuts."  To put it into perspective, the first Lord of the Rings film made $800 million, and the other two films, The Two Towers and Return of the King, brought in $1 billion.  Ok, so that is ridiculous.

Why She Did It

According to Deadline, Blanchett said that she signed up to do the film because she “wanted to work with the guy who made Braindead,” Jackson’s 1992 zombie comedy film, which was released in the U.S. as Dead Alive.
