Say No To Electric Car, Say YES To Flying Bike
In 1983, the “Star Wars” crazy kid that I was saw “Return of the Jedi” six times that summer. This was the final movie in what we were told was the only “Star Wars” trilogy. Anyway, in every one of George Lucas’ movies it seems we were treated to some fantasy vehicle that made you think, ‘Wouldn’t it be cool to have one of THOSE?!” In “Return of the Jedi” it was the “speeder bikes.”
I’m far from the boy who thought, “Wouldn’t it be cool to have one of THOSE?!” However now I (and you) can say, “Wouldn’t it be cool to have one of THESE?!” According to The NY Post, the world’s first flying bike has gone on sale in Japan for $55,000. I am beyond fired up. Now I’m not saying it’s sleek or convenient (it’s 12-feet long and weighs 661 pounds), BUT for cheaper than most electric cars you can fly around in excess of 60 mph!
I’m not sure how high you can fly but imagine this. You’re driving home from downtown Charlotte after a long and stressful day at work. Interstate 77S has a HUGE wreck and traffic backup for miles. If you’re in a car, you’re screwed. However, YOU have this flying bike. You are able to hover over cars. You are able to fly above any and all traffic jams. I know, right? A flying bike may now be the ultimate must-have.
29 Movies That Turn 40 in 2023
When looking at the movies that turn 40 in 2023, one thing is very clear: 1983 kind of ruled!
In 1983, a holiday classic was born with A Christmas Story. Meanwhile, a star was born in Tom Cruise thanks to Risky Business. Women started cutting up their sweatshirts thanks to Flashdance, and a new sex symbol was born thanks to that gold bikini in Return of the Jedi. We also said hello to a little friend (Scarface), gave our daughter the shot (Terms of Endearment) and were gagged with a spoon (Valley Girl.)
Here are 29 movies that turn 40 in 2023. Even the biggest cynic would agree that 1983 at the movies was totally tubular.
