Over 50 Firefighters Working Hard To Put Out Massive North Carolina Blaze
Over 50 firefighters are working hard to put out a massive North Carolina blaze. It’s happening in the Deep Gap area of Watauga County.
The fires were raging south of Boone in the Triplet Community’s new Powder Horn Development. The cause is a brush fire according to our source, Channel 9. Local firefighters are on the scene as well as firefighters from across the country are coming in to help.
Resident Patty Dugger tells Channel 9 in Charlotte, “I never dreamed this place could be on fire everywhere,” Dugger said Thursday. “It is dry. You could throw a cigarette out and it would take half of them.” Fires are reportedly very close to homes.
Nearly 225 acres have burned so far. There is some good news. There are containment lines around the majority of the fire. Blue Ridge Parkway officials say they are temporarily banning back country campfires. The American Red Cross is helping people by providing temporary shelters. No injuries have been reported.
