Opening Date Set For Sullenberger Aviation Museum
It’s official. Charlotte’s Sullenberger Aviation Museum will open June 1.
Formerly known as the Charlotte Aviation Museum, the redesigned and renamed facility will house the famed “Miracle on the Hudson” airplane and numerous other aviation-themed exhibits. Located at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, it is named for Captain C.B. “Sully” Sullenberger, who safely landed the plane in New York’s Hudson River following a bird strike.
Since its closure in 2019, aviation enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting the museum’s reopening. The Sullenberger Aviation Museum will also serve as an overlook for the airport, offering views of runway activity. Officials say they expect 120,000 visitors per year.
Sullenberger Aviation Museum hours will be 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, noon to 4:30 p.m. on Sundays. The museum will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. Admission is $24 for adults, $20 for seniors, veterans and active service members, and $18 for children ages 5-17.
