Granger Smith’s Wife Posts Moving Instagram Tribute To Late Son
This morning, I came across an Instagram post from Amber Smith, wife of country singer Granger Smith. It’s weird how some things in life happen that almost seem intended to remind you of lessons learned or to teach new ones. No parent should EVER have to bury his/her child. Amber’s Instagram offering is an amazingly moving tribute to the couple’s late son, River. It reminded me of a great lesson. More on that in a second.
What Happened To The Son Granger And Amber Smith
It’s hard to believe it’s been five years. Gosh, it seems like it was just yesterday that we got the news that River Smith, the then three-year-old son of Granger and Amber Smith had drowned in the family pool. I think all of our hearts ached. Hard.
The Instagram Post of Amber Smith…What Does It Say?
This morning, here’s what greeted me when I scrolled across Amber Smith’s Instagram post: “Five years. Five years ago was the last time we saw our little wild red-head boy vibrant and alive on this earth. 5 years ago, we played and danced for the last time, not knowing it was the last. 5 years ago, I stared death in the face. Five years ago, it felt like my heart was ripped out of my chest when we lost him, and I kissed his little cheeks for the last time. Five years ago, I didn’t think I would ever have joy again.” She continues with one of the most inspirational messages I’ve ever read. 5 years later I am a new woman. A woman transformed. 5 years later my eyes are open to the Truth and the vapor of a life we have. 5 years later my eyes are fixed on eternity and not this world. 5 years later Jesus has restored my joy in Him. So much can happen in 5 years. Don’t lose heart. Don’t lose hope. When all you want to do is run away, run to the Healer. Again and again.
What Is The Lesson Learned From The Instagram Post Of Amber Smith
I well up reading it again for now, the 100th time. The lesson learned from this? No matter how great the darkness in your life that you face, and make no mistake, we all face darkness in life, never stop seeking the light. It may take time, but you’ll get there. Things will get better, you will be able to move on. God bless Granger and Amber Smith and their family.
