Jeff Bezos Morning Routine Isn’t What You Think It Is
When you imagine Jeff Bezos morning routine you probably picture that it is filled with productivity and work. However, this is far from the truth according to CNBC Make It. Bezos doesn’t let anything get in the way of his slow moving morning routine.
Bezos recently told the “Lex Fridman Podcast” that he starts off his morning like most people: scrolling through his phone and dragging his feet. Bezos said that he is “not as productive as you might think I am.” He then continued, adding that when he first wakes up he does nothing, then he makes coffee and just moves around slowly.
In the morning Bezos also chats with his fiancé and reads the newspaper. After this he goes to the gym to do weightlifting and cardio. He says that on most days going to the gym isn’t that hard, but on the days that it is he does it anyway.
Bezos morning routine reflects his philosophy of embracing wandering and doing things aimlessly. This also follows him to his office where he encourages mind wandering in meetings to come up with new ideas.
Bezos says “I go to bed early, I get up early,” and that is why he has so much time for his routine in the mornings.
Having a slow morning can seem lazy to some people, but it’s actually good for you. These types of mornings usually result in increased energy, creativity and focus. It’s good to spend at least 20 minutes doing nothing every single morning. You could simply stay in bed for 20 minutes after your alarm goes off, or you could do something like meditation.
