Think REALLY BIG “Jaws”
Before our son was born, it was an annual pilgrimage for us to hop in the car-wherever we were living at the time-and drive home to Texas for Christmas. Whether it was from Tallahassee, Florida; Greenville, SC; or Augusta, Ga…it was always a LONG drive.
One of the ways that we fought the monotony of white lines on the road for these trips was to get a couple of books on tape. Some stand out in memory more than others, but one for sure is Steven Alten’s, Meg.
Meg is short for Megalodon, the prehistoric ancestor of the great white shark (pictured above). In other words, a MASSIVE “Jaws.” In the book, one megalodon has survived and thrived at the bottom of the Marianas Trench and is drawn to the surface by deep sea explorers.
The story is terrifying, and was thought to be “unfilmable” because the effects of creating a shark that large could look nothing but REALLY cheesy. I guess, think again.
This is the first trailer for “The Meg,” and as a lifelong shark movie nut…I can’t wait!
To quote an old tag line…just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water…
