AI Gone Wrong Again

I’m totally into this movie for a couple of reasons. First off, Katee Sackoff. Whether she is “Starbuck” on the re-booted version of “Battlestar Galactica,” or “Vic” on “Longmire” she’s the kind of performer whose intensity does not allow you to take your eyes off her when she’s on screen.

Second…the theme of AI taking over. Whether it be “2001: A Space Odyssey” or any of “The Terminater” movies this is nothing new. However, with the advent in our lives of AI like “Alexa,” it’s all starting to become a lot less about suspending disbelief.

The movie is “2036 Origin Unknown.”

Here’s the official synopsis and trailer:

“After the first manned mission to Mars ends in a deadly crash, mission controller Mackenzie ‘Mack’ Wilson (Sackhoff) assists an artificial intelligence system, A.R.T.I. Their investigation uncovers a mysterious object under the surface of Mars, that could change the future of our planet as we know it.”

Charlie Nance is the Afternoon Drive co-host (along with his wife) of "The Charlie and Debbie Show" at WSOC, Country 1037 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The couple have been with the radio station since 2006. Charlie has won the prestigious CMA (Country Music Association) Award for Radio Personality of the Year and has been a finalist for the Country Radio Hall of Fame four times. Prior to his time in Charlotte, Charlie (along with Debbie) spent more than a decade hosting successful morning radio shows in Greenville, SC; Augusta, Ga; and Birmingham, Al.
