Over the past week, illegal credit and debit card skimmers were found at multiple Walmart stores in North Carolina. According to WMFY News, police believe the same group of people is behind all of them.
Greensboro Police Detective Joseph Harrill says the skimmers all appear to have been installed on November 18th of last year. They record the credit and debit card numbers of unsuspecting shoppers when they pay for items they’ve purchased. As many as 300 customers have been ripped off.
Investigators believe the same group of thieves is responsible for planting all the skimmers, Harrill says, they’re “confident” they’ll track them down. Do you know how to tell if an illegal skimmer has been installed at a cash register?
