North Carolina Construction Workers Find Purse That Was Lost 30 Years Ago
A North Carolina woman has been reunited with a purse she lost at a movie theater 30 years ago. Sherry Church was 17 years old when she left her purse at North Wilkesboro’s Liberty Theatre in 1992.
ABC7 says, although she reported it missing at the time, it was never recovered until workers recently began renovating the 91-year-old facility. Liberty co-owner Mick Zulpo said, “As we were demolishing this space, we were taking out some pieces from the ceiling and it actually fell out of the ceiling and literally hit one of our guys on the head.”
Police believe someone stole the purse, removed its cash, and stashed it in the theater’s ceiling. However, Church says the purse still contained memories that one can’t put a price on, like her birth certificate, a high school class schedule, a job application, and photographs.
Sherry Church had been to the theater several times since her purse went missing. She said, “Some of the people I didn’t even remember I have pictures of. So I’ve been here, my purse has been here. I never knew.”
