Legendary North Carolina Barbecue Joint Reopens After Nearly Devastating Fire
Full disclosure. I’m from Shelby and I might be a little biased about Red Bridges Barbecue Lodge. If you know you know. Happy to hear this news from our source, Channel 3 in Charlotte. This legendary North Carolina barbecue joint reopens after a nearly devastating fire.
Legendary North Carolina Barbecue Joint Reopens
This iconic North Carolina barbecue place is reopening Wednesday October 30 just days after a fire. Luckily the blaze was contained to the pit area and the inside remained intact. And that is such a good thing for many reasons. Almost every time I go back to Shelby I have to stop in there on 74 and get a taste of home. The way the place looks inside takes me back to eating there with my Mom and Dad. They are no longer here but Red Bridges Barbecue Lodge remains largely the same.

They wrote on their Facebook page, “We will cook as much as we can, but remember: once it’s gone, it’s gone!Thank you so much for all your love and support as we get back on our feet. We can’t wait to see you!” I mentioned the decor. The North Carolina barbecue restaurant is famous for their delicious award winning barbecue, slaw, hushpuppies and fries. I get the sliced small barbecue plate.
Red Bridges Barbecue will be open from 11a.m-7p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. And open for the Sunday lunch crowd from 11 a.m. until 3p.m. They have been in business since 1946. There has been a lot of changes in Shelby since I grew up there but it is so nice to know that Red Bridges Barbecue Lodge will remain. I think I might have to take a trip on 74 West and head up to Cleveland County today.
