In The Spotlight: Kane Brown
Kane Brown is making a big splash in country music and winning the hearts of fans as well as shaking up country music.
Kane Brown’s platinum single “What If’s” featuring former American Idol runner-up and longtime friend Lauren Alaina, made Brown the first artist ever to top all of Billboards five country charts at the same time. Not to mention his debut self-titled album climbed to number one on the top country albums chart and the newest single “Heaven” sat at number one for digital song sales.
Congrats, @KaneBrown for becoming the first artist to simultaneously lead five country charts! https://t.co/JFX6MkRsXu pic.twitter.com/RIg7OBkv50

All of this is impressive, especially when you consider his pretty untraditional foray into country. Instead of playing in bars and slowly working towards publishing deals, Kane simply released videos of him singing covers of his favorite country tunes on social media, much to the delight of his growing, predominately female base.
Many see Kane as a welcome sign of changing times in country music, a biracial young man who is honest and open about a troubled childhood revolving around discrimination and poverty. However you may see him, Brown is on an already promising incline in country music, and we can all expect more to come.
