How to Get Cheaper Gas in Charlotte
Bad news. Gas prices could average around three-dollars a gallon by Memorial Day.
As demand recovers from the pandemic price plunge, Triple-A predicts a big spike over the next few weeks. Oil prices have been rising as OPEC slashes production and the winter storm in Texas took nearly 20 percent of U.S. refinery capacity offline. Traveling to vaccines and also spring weather will get people on the roads and prices will jump according to AAA.
Here’s how I get cheaper gas at the pump.
Go to South Carolina. If you live near the SC border, scoot on over where you can gas 10-15 cents per gallon cheaper. Some gas stations are cheaper than others so be on the lookout! Also, stay away from gas stations near highways. They tend to be more expensive than others.
Here’s another hack. Join a club. Like Sams, Costco, or even Harris Teeter. They all offer discounted gas based on the amount you spend at the register inside the store. I usually use my Teeter points and get 5-10 cents off a gallon!
