Delta Opens First Airport Sky Club at CLT, Adds 246-Seat Lounge
Delta Air Lines opened its newest Sky Club at Charlotte Douglas International Airport on Dec. 18. The massive 14,000-square-foot space can hold up to 246 guests comfortably. Located in a new $241 million expansion of Concourse A near gate A32, the club operates from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. This is Delta’s only club opening for the year. The club’s opening boosts Delta’s foothold at this North Carolina hub. While handling just 4.5% of flights compared to American Airlines’ massive 87% share, Delta keeps important routes to seven major cities.
From the mezzanine level, guests can enjoy great views of planes taking off and airport operations. The space is perfect for business travelers, featuring six soundproof phone rooms, plenty of USB-C charging spots, and different areas to work. Drawing inspiration from Charlotte’s outdoor vibe, the design features natural materials and textures. This look matches Delta’s recent updates to its Miami and LaGuardia Airport spots. “We believe it’s designed for the Queen City with a neoclassic look and feel,” said Tim Genovese, Delta Sky Clubs operations director, speaking to TPG ahead of the opening.
Starting in February 2025, the club will update its access policies. While Reserve and American Express Platinum members will face new visit limits, big spenders who put over $75,000 yearly on cards keep unlimited access. Entry is still available to Delta Medallion status holders, certain American Express cardholders, and eligible Delta flight passengers. Inside, two bars and a large food buffet serve guests all day.
The airline’s high-end spaces got a big upgrade in 2024, with three luxury Delta One Lounges opening in New York, Los Angeles, and Boston airports in just six months.
