Massive Opry City Stage Opens In NYC’s Times Square
Is New York City going country? If the Grand Ole Opry has anything to say about it, yes.
Ryman Hospitality Properties, which owns and operates the storied 92-year-old franchise, is opening Opry City Stage, a four-level live music and dining space complete with fancified Southern comfort food in the heart of Times Square. “Country music and the country lifestyle have never been more popular than they are today,” Ryman Hospitality’s Colin Reed says. “Through Opry City Stage, we can now share an authentic slice of country’s most famous institution with the millions of people from around the country and the world who visit Times Square each year.”

Opry City Stage will have some other impressive features, too. Two of the building’s four levels will be occupied by the restaurant, bars and performance stage, The first floor will house a retail shop while the fourth is filled by The Studio At Opry City Stage, which it being billed as a “world-class concert space.” Select performances from the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville will be live-streamed at new venue, as well as some shows from the famous Nashville songwriters venue The Bluebird Cafe. Finally, pieces and parts of country music history will be on display all over the joint. The first exhibit, “Iconic Fashions From The Opry Archives,” will document decades of artist-wear work by the likes of Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks and Taylor Swift. Lots and lots of photos – more than 300 – will be on display, too.
