Kenny Chesney’s Sound Guys Recently Visited U.S. Bank Stadium In Minneapolis To Address Acoustics Problems
Kenny Chesney isn’t taking any chances ahead of his May 5th concert at Minneapolis’ new U.S. Bank Stadium, which will seat 50,000 fans for the show. The venue has been plagued with complaints over its acoustics since it opened last summer, and Kenny’s sound crew recently visited the venue to address them.
The $1 billion facility is home to the Minnesota Vikings and has hosted just a handful of concerts. Two of those, U2 and Luke Bryan, earned widespread criticism from fans over bad sound. According to a story in the Minneapolis Star Tribune from October, Kenny’s sound guys recently spent an entire day at the building in hopes of tailoring his audio to its unique characteristics.
The good news is that things are expected to work out fine. “It’s very easy and achievable to make the experience much better,” Morris Experience/Morris Lighting & Sound’s David Haskell told the newspaper.
Adds the crew’s John Mills, “The successes have been the [bands] who came in and worked closely with the venue, and the ones who didn’t have success didn’t closely collaborate with them,” he offered without naming names. According to the newspaper, fewer complaints were lodged after concerts by Guns N’ Roses, Coldplay and Metallica.
The visit might prove helpful as early as February. Justin Timberlake is slated to deliver the halftime performance for Superbowl LII at the venue. Read more from the Minneapolis Star Tribune here.
