Widow Of Troy Gentry Has Filed A Lawsuit Related To His Death
It’s been five months since Troy Gentry’s life was tragically cut short in a helicopter accident.
Since then, the remaining member of Montgomery Gentry, Eddie Montgomery, has chosen to return to the stage — Because it’s what Troy would have wanted.
Now, Gentry’s widow, Angie, has filed a lawsuit against Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, Sikorsky Global Helicopters, Inc. and Keystone Helicopter Corporation.
Details of the lawsuit were published on the Courthouse News website.
Angie cites loss of care and support for both herself and the couple’s two daughters, ages 15 and 24.
The cause of the crash was listed as engine failure due to a jammed throttle cable.
While the pilot did try to right the error by shutting down the engine, in hopes of gliding to the ground safely, the lawsuit claims there was nothing in the helicopter’s handbook to assist the pilot when his attempt to correct the issue failed.
Angie is seeking more than $50,000 in the lawsuit. All parties will meet in court later this year.
