This Small Thing Could Keep Your Kids From Drug Abuse!
As if you need proof that there is nothing more important than a mother’s love, a recent study shows that hugs and kisses from mommy can help prevent drug abuse later in life. An experiment on baby rats conducted by Duke University and the University of Adelaide in Australia found that the ones that had “high-touch” mothers had a higher level of a molecule called Interleukin-10, which gave them the ability to resist taking a dose of morphine when the got older. Rats were used in the experiment because the way they get addicted to drugs is similar to what happens to humans. Some of the babies that were taken from their mothers as infants showed a marked interest in taking drugs as compared to those who got more maternal attention.
