Guy Fieri: Fried Chicken & Marriage Have Something In Common
Guy Fieri Reveals the Secret to His 23-Year Marriage — And Making the Best Fried Chicken! What is his big secret to success and happiness in life and the kitchen?
Guy Fieri is an award-winning chef and restaurant owner who not only has been successful in the kitchen, he also is in a 23-year successful marriage with his wife, Lori. Guy says his secret to a successful marriage, “It’s all compromise and understanding.” Lori understands that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and she makes a dish that Guy loves, “She sautés top sirloin with onions, mushrooms, and garlic,” explained Fieri. “And she makes this fantastic gravy and serves it over egg noodles. It’s a very simple dish but it’s one of my favorites.” When asked how to make the perfect fried chicken, Guy says first you gotta start with good, non-antibiotic chicken that is well seasoned, brined or marinated and then you have to have a good batter. “…you have to give it a nice batter — not a heavy coating — a nice crunchy coating of delicious batter that’s about texture. The batter should compliment the chicken, it’s not supposed to replace it or be 50/50.”
So I think what he is trying to say, is that just like the batter and texture of the chicken should be 50/50, your marriage has to also be 50/50!
