Is This Fashion For Your Dog Or Just Cruel
Kendall Jenner divides opinion as she walks her dog.
Social media isn’t being kind to Kendall Jenner after pictures of her Doberman, Pyro, was spotted wearing a prong dog collar surfaced online. The dog prong collars have been used to train dogs who pull while being walked, however, animal activists, dog trainers, and pet lovers alike say that the prong collars cause dogs pain, discomfort, and emotional suffering.
Angry fans took to social media to condemn the model for using the collar on her dog, “Prong collars actually do cause pain to the dog for all of you saying they don’t! Prong collars should be the last resort used to train your dog!” stated a user. Many on social media insisted that with Jenner’s money she could pay someone to train her dog instead of using methods that they deemed as abusive.
Here is what people were saying about the collar:
WHILE I DO NOT SUPPORT ANIMAL ABUSE IN ANY SENSE, I THINK IT IS DISGUSTING. BUT MY DOG USED TO HAVE THAT PRONG COLLAR. WE USED IT TO TRAIN HIM NOT TO DO THINGS, WHEN YOU PULL ON IT HELPS TRAIN THEM. IT’S NOT THE BEST FEELING IN THE WORLD, BUT WHEN USED PROPERLY IT’S SAFE.

PINCH COLLARS R NOT TORTURE DEVICES!!!!! THEY REALLY HELP WHEN U HAVE A DOG THAT PULLS A LOT ON THE LEASH AND U NEED TO TRAIN THEM!!! IT DOESN’T HURT, JUST PINCHES WHEN THEY PULL TOO HARD AND ALSO HAVE A POINT AT WHICH THEY STOP PINCHING. REGULAR COLLARS CHOKE DOGS MORE.

I HAVE NEVER ONCE SEEN OR HEARD OF A DOG TRAINER RECOMMENDING THESE, JUST USE A HARNESS? JUST AS EFFECTIVE AND IT DOESN’T HURT THE DOG? BRUH?

THIS IS ACTUALLY A MYTH. I’VE BEEN A BEHAVIORIST FOR 5 YEARS & I HAVE TRAINED EVERY SINGLE DOG TO WALK POLITELY ON A HARNESS WHETHER THEY WERE 6 POUNDS OR 160 POUNDS. THAT IS THE SAFEST EQUIPMENT FOR WALKING. PRONG COLLARS CAUSE PAIN/DISCOMFORT & THAT’S WHY THEY SOMETIMES WORK.
