The Baby White Rhino at NC Zoo Is Officially Named
The North Carolina Zoo had a brand new baby white rhino added to their family earlier this year!
Mguu, pronounced “mm-goo” was the name chosen by a Zoo employee, but it wasn’t just a random name. A list was created by the rhino keepers, then the Zoo invited employees to enter a free drawing to choose the name. Zach Neal was the big winner, so he picked the name and his family also won a behind the scenes tour with Mguu and the rest of the rhino herd!
Mguu, means “feet” in Swahili. This is a fitting name for the baby since she has really big feet, according to her keepers! She is her mother Kit’s, second baby.
The NC Zoo’s herd now is a whopping total of nine rhinos! Mguu and Kit will be joining the herd on the Watani Grasslands as the temperatures warm up this spring. So be sure to check them out! For more info, click here!
