Do You Believe In Fear?
Every time we turn on the news we’re slapped upside the head with the number of COVID-19 cases. We see the death toll ever climbing. We see police officers killing unarmed black people. We see peaceful protests turn violent. We’re told to distance ourselves from others, even our loved ones. Other people can make you sick, they say. We mask up to save our lives. Everyday we see people losing their livelihoods. People losing their lives. How do you keep up the moral of a nation gripped by fear?
The future may seem bleak, but this too shall pass. Trouble don’t last always. It’s always darkest before the dawn…blah, blah, blah. To some of us these words get emptier as time ticks on, but that doesn’t make them ring any less true. The key to our survival is strength. The strength to make lemons out of lemonade and the strength to lift others falling into gloom. We may not be able to stop the pandemic, but we can find creative ways to grow and heal while we wait it out. Do the things you enjoy. Check in with those you love. Have the courage to fight for change. Meditate. Seize opportunities to come out of this a better version of yourself. Most of all, remember to acknowledge and embrace your fears. Just don’t let them paralyze you. 2020 tried us…but we’re still standing.
