Black Female Business Ownership
Black women are the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs. According to the federal reserve, black women have more business owners than their Male counterparts. This isn’t the case for any other racial group. This is incredible considering historically women have been systematically slighted on upward mobility. This still rings true today.
Women of color feel devalued, overlooked, and overworked in the workplace. Despite their skills and experience, they don’t advance as quickly. They are still continuously passed over for promotions and often called upon to train others to be their boss. That’s some shig-ity!!!!???? So out of necessity, Black women are making moves and there is an impressive spike in the number of them branching out to start their own businesses. Not only are they making magic happen, they are doing it with fewer financial and educational resources: borrowing business loans with less income and less wealth and growing at a slower rate than other women entrepreneurs. Black female entrepreneurs lack mentors that understand how to successfully manage a startup from their unique socioeconomic standpoint. Still they rise. It would give you some warm fussy human credit and good karma to help them instead of hindering black females.
