How To Survive Charlotte Traffic
It’s a typical work day and you’ve survived another battle to get everyone up, clean, dressed and out the door and into the car. You are all safely buckled, the radio is on and you take a deep breath and start the car. It begins as soon as you hit the stop sign leading out of your subdivision. Nothing but an ocean of headlights in all directions. You sit for what seems like an eternity waiting for someone to let you into the rat race. You know the other drivers see you, but they stare straight ahead like you are invisible per usual. You slowly inch your way out until someone slips up, not paying attention, and you get ahead of them and pull out. Aha, now the fun really begins. You need to turn left in .05 miles, but you are in the far right lane.
As the challenge begins on the road, the chaos erupts in the back seat. You try to drown the yelling out by turning the radio up higher. It works for now. You roll down your window and start waving at the cars beside you. You put on a great big smile so they know you are crazy, but not aggressive. Eventually someone takes pity on you and you are able to merge and make your turn just in time. Of course the light is now red. You realize the noise from the backseat has quieted but you are too scared to glance in the rear view mirror to see what is going on. You are finally on the Interstate. Cars are moving fast now, but also changing lanes at lightning speed. You join the race as your neck bobs from side mirror to rear view mirror to the side window and back again. In an instant all you see is red brake lights. You slam on your breaks and pray the car behind you stops too. Your heart races and you turn the radio down. You are inching along as your mind starts to wander about all the things you need to accomplish today. That’s when you look up and realize you have passed your exit and you come to the conclusion that there is NO way to survive Charlotte traffic.
