Charlotte Was A Top City Attracting New Workers During the Pandemic
Believe it or not, the Charlotte area’s economy faired pretty well during the pandemic. That’s right Charlotte was actually attracting new workers while people were losing jobs in record numbers. A new study from HelpAdvisor.com determined that The Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia region was 4th in the nation for most new workers gained during the start of the COVID pandemic. This is based on data from Q2 of 2020.
To conduct the study HelpAdvisor.com analyzed employment data from the Census Bureau in an effort to discover the top and bottom cities that attracted new workers when COVID-19 lockdowns first began to impact the U.S. economy.
Throughout Q2 (April, May, and June) of 2020, the region experienced a net gain of 2,504 workers. This ranked as the 4th most net growth of any city in the nation. Job flows during this time were 37% lower than the previous year, due to obvious reasons. What about the area do you think led to Charlotte attracting new workers?
