North Carolina Factory Worker Wins $2 Million From Scratch-Off
JACKPOT! One North Carolina man hit the jackpot when he won $2 million in a North Carolina lottery win. Robert Hamrick, 53-years-old, thought he was seeing things when he found out he won big with his lottery ticket.
The Charlotte Observer reports Hamrick says that he thought he was seeing things when he saw his winning ticket. Hamrick bought a $20 Premier Cash scratch-off ticket from the Shop & Save in Marion. He told lottery officials that once seeing the prize, he had his wife double-check he wasn’t wrong. Hamrick tells officials his wife looked like she was about to faint.
Lottery officials report Hamrick had a decision between collecting an annual prize of $100,000 over 20 years or cashing out a lump sum of $1.2 million. Hamrick chose the lump sum and took home $852,126 after taxes. He says he will put his winnings towards his church, family, and fixing his home.
