Blake Shelton Bids Goodbye To ‘The Voice,’ Gets His Red Chair
After being announced on the Season 23 Finale of NBC’s The Voice, high-fiving the crew who all held up number one foam fingers, Blake Shelton sat in his famous red chair on last night’s (5/23). Adam Levine welcomed him and said, “Don’t screw it up, it’s your last show, you’ve had a great run, don’t screw it up, you idiot. Just kidding, I love you very much. Have a great show, and I love that I am here; the band’s here, and you look great.”
Team Niall’s Gina Miles was The Voice’s Season 23 winner.
Gwen could not be at the live finale, but she did a video clip about how she and Blake met on The Voice, and her life changed forever. Gwen said in part, “Who would have thought that this Oklahoma guy and this girl from Orange County would find each other on the set of ‘The Voice.'” She continued, “When I first came on the show, our lives had this parallel destruction happening. Next thing you know, Blake and I started becoming like besties and falling in love. To find my soulmate, it’s hard for me to talk about it without getting emotional.”
After the clip, Shelton gushed, “Weekly we talk about, ‘I mean, what? Can you believe that happened?’ We met each other on the show and the circumstances, and it’s been the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me in my life.”
Superstars and GOATs like Dolly Parton, Wayne Gretzky, Peyton Manning, and NASCAR’s Jimmie Johnson spoke about Blake being the GOAT on The Voice. Dolly said in part, “The goat, I’ve come across a few real goats in my time, and they are social animals, but they’re stubborn, and they have an accent, and they will literally eat anything, and they are known for their burping. So, I guess you are kind of a goat.”
Carson named off all of Blake’s The Voice stats, including the fact that he has hit his button over 600 times. Then he showed Shelton a video clip of the gift he was getting as a truck pulled up to his home and delivered his red The Voice chair. Gwen said, “I pulled this off.”

Before the show, Adam joked to Carson Daly about advice for Blake, “I don’t think he needs my advice. I mean, he’s got it together, he’s retiring, he’s being put out to pasture.” He added, “You know he’s just going to go knit sweaters and do god knows what on his land.”
Throughout the first hour of the show, when the finalist performances from Monday night were re-visited, many former Team Blake winners talked about him. Wendy Moten, Bryce Leatherwood, and more talked about what Shelton and The Voice did for them.
Shelton took a moment to talk with ET Online before last night’s (5/22) The Voice part one finale of his final season on the show. He touched on what his plans are after The Voice.
Blake said his plans are simple, “I want to finally have the opportunity to say yes to more stuff in my personal life and not say, ‘Let me check,’ or just flat-out no.”
He got his star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame a few weeks back. So, Shelton has been celebrated a lot and is ready to move past it. He offered, “I’ve had enough parties thrown for me in the last few weeks. [Gwen] goes, ‘We’re just celebrating you; you’re good right?’ Yeah, I’m good. Please, no more parties for me.”
