A North Carolina Filmmaker Is Set To Film At Lake Hickory Haunts
According to Hickory Daily Record, Lake Hickory Haunts will soon be featured in Ron Rossmanns latest slasher movie called “You’re It.”
Ron Rossmann is both a writer and director. He says his latest idea is to create a psychological slasher movie. This film is going to be about a paranormal serial killer who stalks the crew of a retro-style horror movie.
Rossmann said his inspiration for “You’re It” came from a discussion with Gregbo Watson. Watson is the executive producer of the soon-to-be horror film “You’re It.”He has also worked drawing for Marvel Comics and Zenescope Comics.
The two were inspired to make this film by John Carpenter’s “Halloween.” Rossmann said that Carpenter took practically no budget and completely launched the slasher film genre.
“It was prior to the gore era. So if you watch ‘Halloween’ compared to ‘Friday the 13th,’ it’s scary, but there’s not as much gore. So, we kind of lost that. So, we wanted to go back to those roots.”
The film that inspired Rossmann to try and create his own was “The Thing from Another World.”
The director become a cinephile from that point on. He was a late bloomer when it came to filming, but he began as an author, then moved forward writing screenplays and plays for schools.
He said the movie is going to be a lot different from a typical slasher movie in the sense that he doesn’t want the film to be just about gore.
Rossmann added, “I want you to feel for the characters because most of these are kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, which is fine. But we want you to go, damn, I didn’t want that person to die.”
Santiago Cirilo and Amber Dawn Fox, from the TV series “The Walking Dead,” are expected to be feature actors in the movie.
The filming for “You’re It” is currently set to start in January 2024. It is expected to take around 12 weekends to complete.
The budget for the film was $10,000. But they have already raised over $7,000 through their Kickstarter.
