The Best Place To Live Near The Carolinas To Avoid Natural Disasters
Looks like another hurricane is heading for Florida’s Gulf Coast. But for us here in the Carolinas, where is the safest place near the Carolinas to avoid natural disasters? Here is where Rocket Homes says you should live.
We are in what they call the Southern region. We have humid temperatures and that leads to tornadoes and more. Hurricanes also make their way into the Carolinas. So where in the vicinity is the safest place to live to avoid natural disasters?
The team at BestPlaces.net used the following metrics to determine the places to live with the least chance of experiencing a natural disaster.
They gave communities a resilience rating: That’s the community’s ability to prepare for disaster, adapt to changes, and withstand and recover from the event. Then they compared these cities to others for acts of nature. These include hurricanes and tornadoes, earthquakes, extreme temperatures, flooding, and more.
Rocket Homes says the city of Morganton, West Virginia is where you want to live. According to them, not only is Morgantown the safest place to avoid natural disasters in the southern region of the U.S., but it’s also the second safest in the country. The city’s low risk of natural disaster isn’t the only thing that draws people to Morgantown; it’s also the area’s low cost of living.
Blacksburg Virginia came in second, then Parkersburg, West Virginia, followed by Weirton, West Virginia. So looks like the best place to live near the Carolinas to avoid Natural disasters is slightly North of us.

And I’m thankful to live in North Carolina where the threat of these types of weather-related events is smaller than many other areas of the country. But that doesn’t mean we don’t face natural disasters in North Carolina.
