These Eggs Are Being Recalled In The Carolinas
On Wednesday, Handsome Brook Farms sent out an announcement that they are recalling 10,800 units of eggs according to WCNC Charlotte. These eggs were distributed to Costco’s in five different states, including the Carolinas.
The company says that the eggs could be contaminated with salmonella. The FDA has not reported any illnesses from the eggs yet.
These eggs were packaged and sold under the brand name Kirkland Signature starting on Friday, November 22nd. There were 25 different Costco stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama the Kirkland Signature Organic Pasture Raised 24-Count Eggs were distributed to. It’s not yet known exactly which Costcos the eggs were sold at.
The company said in its announcement “the recall was initiated after the company determined that eggs not intended for retail distribution were instead packaged and distributed in retail packaging.”
The FDA says that the contaminated eggs have a UPC 9661910680 label on them. They are in a plastic egg carton that is labeled Kirkland Signature on top. This recall only applies to units that have the Julian Code 327 and a use-by date of “Jan. 6, 2025.” No other egg products were contaminated according to the company.
Those who have contaminated eggs should not consume them and should return them to Costco for a full refund. If you do not want a refund, simply throw the product away. If you have questions for the company you can call 646-733-4532, ext. 1, Monday through Friday, 9 AM – 6 PM EST or you can email recall@hbfeggs.com.
