‘Bridgerton’ Prequel Will Focus On Queen Charlotte (Yes, That Queen Charlotte)
Fans of Bridgerton have been waiting for this. According to People, a limited prequel series of the highly popular Netflix series is in the works. It will focus on Queen Charlotte. Yes, that Queen Charlotte. As in, the woman for whom Charlotte, North Carolina is named.
Queen Charlotte (1744-1818) was born Sophia Charlotte in Mecklenburg-Strelitz in what is now Germany. Now you know how Mecklenburg County got its name, too. Charlotte became the Queen of the United Kingdom Great Britain and Ireland as a result of her marriage to King George III. He was the king at the time of the American Revolution.
While Golda Rosheuvel plays Queen Charlotte in Bridgerton, India Amarteifio stars as the young queen in the prequel. The title of the new series is Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Netflix describes the plot like this: “Centered on Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.”
No premiere date for Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story has been announced but you can get an early peek at the project HERE. If you haven’t jumped on the Bridgerton bandwagon yet, the first two seasons are streaming on Netflix. Don’t watch it with young kids in the room, though. The Regency romance gets a little zesty.
