Reba Matches Dance Moves With Chance The Rapper

NBC’s The Voice does so much promotion for their show, and with its premiere last night (2/26), has been captured in a bunch of video clips and promos out from the coaches. This season’s coaches include Reba, Chance The Rapper John Legend and first-time coaches Dan + Shay.

In one video clip, Reba posted to her Instagram, Chance The Rapper is teaching some dance moves to the country Queen, and she plays along. In the video, Chance says, “Alright, this is how we dance.” He makes moves with his hands and feet, and Reba does the same, and not too bad. After the quick dance, Chance asks, “How was it?”

Reba captioned the post, “Thanks for the new dance moves @chancetherapper!”

Many of Reba’s almost 3 million Instagram followers reacted, including one who wrote, “This is so wholesome. I love both of them!!!” Another fan gushed, “In all the shows on the Voice, I have never enjoyed one like last night.” One more fan commented, “She is just the best.”

Earlier this week (2/26), Reba posted to Instagram a shot of an article online with the headline: “Reba Confirms She’s Leaving ‘The Voice’ After Her Accidental Live Confession.” In big red letters, she wrote over the article “FALSE.” She captioned the post with a warning to fans: “Please do not click on any articles that say I am leaving The Voice. This is not true.”

She added, “These are fake websites to lure people in with clickbait where they claim I have a company to sell weight loss gummy products. This is false. I do not sell or promote any type of gummy product. Please report these posts if you see them on Facebook or Instagram.”

Many fans appreciated the post, with one commenting, “Thanks for confirming this, Reba. We can’t always trust social media & the crap they put out there.” Another fan joked, “Now if the article was about Tater-tots, we would know it was real.” One more fan said, “I love you, Queen. You are always looking out for people.”

 

Five Reba Music Videos That Are Classics

  • "Is There Life Out There" (1991)

    Reba plays a waitress in this dramatic music video that was also a TV movie. The story and drama of this video are lovely, and this journalist also has a soft spot for it. Full disclosure: I was an extra in the film and video as a graduate in cap and gown. It was filmed at Vanderbilt’s campus in Nashville. This is the video Reba won the ACM Award in 1991 for Video of the Year. Singer Huey Lewis stars as her husband in the music video. In the 1994 TV movie, actor Keith Carradine plays that part.

  • "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia" (1991)

    This is another music video that could be a movie. Reba notes it as one of her favorite songs. In the video, Reba plays her character as an older woman as she tells the story. Her character is the little sister and convicted killer in the sad story.

  • "Whoever's in New England" (1986)

    In 1987, McEntire won the GRAMMY Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for this song. It was her first GRAMMY win. The music video was one of Reba’s first to really show her dramatic actress side.

  • "Does He Love You" with Dolly Parton (2021)

    Reba did this song and a music video for it in 1993 with Linda Davis. However, in 2021, she made music history when she redid the duet with country icon Dolly Parton. It was the first time the two country Queens recorded a song together. Their performance of the song was nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Country Duo/Group Performance in 2022. The version of the song with Davis won the GRAMMY award for Best Country Vocal Collaboration in 1994.

  • "Fancy" (1991)

    This is Reba’s biggest hit and her most talked about music video. When Carrie Underwood scored her 15th number-one song on country radio “Church Bells,” in 2016, she recalled that when the song came out, she believed it was sort of a smaller version of Reba’s song.

    Underwood told me about it in a recent interview. “‘Church Bells’ is like ‘Fancy’s’ little sister (laughs) — Reba and ‘Fancy.’ And she gets out and makes a name for herself by, you know, she’s got her dancin’ dress and all that stuff. And this one she starts, you know, she’s young, she’s pretty, she’s poor — doin’ what she can to survive, meets a man that has a lot of wealth and is supposed to, you know, take care of her and get her out of this.”

Nancy Brooks has been working in the country music industry for almost 30 years. She has interviewed pretty much any country star you can think of. In the late 1990s, she started working with Dolly Parton. And yes, Nancy reports that Parton is as sweet as you would think. She loves her life in country music and has been backstage at every CMA Awards show since the late 1990s. Many of her stories are from her one-on-one interviews. She was there at the beginning of the incredible careers of many music superstars today, including Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, and Blake Shelton, and has interviewed them multiple times throughout the years.
