16 Father’s Days…How Did That Happen?
This Sunday marks my sixteenth Father’s Day.
Wow…where have they gone.
You know, when you become a dad everyone tells you how time will fly, but you don’t believe them. That son (or daughter) you’re holding in the palm of your hand can’t possibly grow that fast, right? There’s no way they’ll be pulling out of your driveway in a Jeep, right? (see above)
Fatherhood has been, and continues to be, the most challenging and rewarding task I’ve ever had. The object of the game is to make him the best man he can be.
Someone who is admired, trusted, and liked by all who come to know him.
Someone better than I could ever be.
Not to say we haven’t and aren’t having fun. After all, for a golf fanatic, what is better than to have my own built in golf partner?
Along the way, he’s been able to be a part of what we do as well. Case in point, he’s always had a really unique and cool relationship with Jake Owen over the years-to the point that right before the pic on the right was taken, Jake looked at me and simply said, “Where is he?”
I could go on and on about the things I love about being a dad. I could go on and on about the things that I’ love about my son.
But right now…all I want to do is slow the hands of time, because they are moving to fast.
They do for all dads.
Happy Father’s Day.
