American Idol, Meet Merle Haggard
Last week we had a teenage girl from Magnolia, Texas (not far from Houston) wow the judges on “The Voice” with her rendition of Loretta Lynn’s “Coalminer’s Daughter.”
Then, last night on the season premier of “American Idol,” Laci Kaye Booth, a college student from Livingston, Texas (equal distance from Houston-different direction) delivered this stunning version of “Mama Tried” by Merle Haggard.
Is this a sign?
