Granger Smith Inspired Me Today
There may not be a nicer guy than Granger Smith. Every dealing we’ve had with him in his relatively short career hasn’t been just good, it’s been great. Because of his alter-ego, the comedic “Earl Dibbles Jr.,” you WANT him to be a super nice and approachable dude…and he is.
A year ago, this REALLY nice guy and good man lost his young son in a tragic drowning accident. As a parent, I cannot imagine the horror.
On a personal note, I have two VERY good friends from college who lost a son when he was four. It was too much for their marriage to endure. It’s not uncommon. I believe the statistic is something like 93% of marriages that lose a child under the age of 10, do not last. To this day, twice a year (on the child’s birthday and anniversary of his passing), my heart aches for my friends.
Anyway, I was drawn to a story about Granger Smith reworking lyrics of his song “That’s Why I Love Dirt Roads” to honor his late son, River. However, what struck me more was this tribute to his wife, Amber that I found on his Instagram.
93% of marriages that endure this tragedy don’t last. I’m not just rooting for this one, I think it’s definitely gonna fall in the 7% category.
Any man who loves a woman this much…and is able to share it so eloquently.
I want to be Granger Smith.
