Don Henley Wants A Do-Over On An Eagles Classic
I was just on the golf course the other day with a guy who we worked for at Country 1037 for about 12 years. He is a music fanatic whose opinions of the subject, I always pay attention to.
Anyway, as we were playing, we had my iPhone shuffling through a playlist on my Bluetooth speaker when a Don Henley song came on. “You know,” he began, “when you hear that guy sing you realize that The Eagles may have been the best band-any musical genre-of all time.”
And he’s right.
I’ve seen em all (with the exception of The Beatles) and as far as musicianship, lyrics, singing, they are hard to compete with.
We saw them downtown a few years ago when they came through on their last tour and it was so good, it was almost a religious experience.
Their final encore was “Desperado.”

Henley teamed with the late Glenn Frey to write “Desperado,” the title cut from their second album (released in 1973). The surprise is that the song is easily the most eduring, but was NEVER released as a single.
The song is LEGENDARY, and Henley says he wants a do-over.
Apparently, the producer would only allow him a few takes on the vocal and he wanted to keep going as he didn’t feel he’d nailed it.
I, along with the rest of the world disagree, but hey…he’s the artist.
Anyway, it’s a fascinating story.
