This Morgan Wallen Song Was Almost Luke Bryan’s
For a song that has not yet been released as a single from Morgan Wallace’s new double album, “Dangerous,” “Sand in My Boots” is getting a lot of run
Yesterday, I heard a recording of Shay Mooney singing the chorus of this song, and now find out that it was Luke Bryan who almost recorded it.
The song was written by HARDY, Ashley Gorley, and Josh Osborne on Wallen’s birthday and during an interview on Apple’s “Happy Hour Radio” with Morgan, HARDY explained that “Sand On My Boots” was favored by Luke Bryan as well but the songwriters felt Wallen was the perfect pick to record the song and “make it cool.”
Ouch.
Now, back in the day it would not be surprising to find out that two artists would have recorded the same song. For example, a lot of people forget that “Friends in Low Places” was not only on Garth Brooks’ second album, “No Fences,” but also on Mark Chesnutt’s debut album, “Too Cold At Home” that came out a month or so earlier.
And it’s not like Luke’s hurting for hits, right? Something tells me he’ll bounce back from this disappointment. 😉
