Could Not Agree More With Thomas Rhett
So in preparing for the radio show this morning, I came across an interesting quote from Thomas Rhett. Full disclosure, I’m not the biggest Thomas Rhett fan in the world. I’ve heard enough about him being in high school and I get it, you love your wife.
Nothing wrong with any of that…and it’s made (and continues to make) him rich and famous.
That being said, I COULD NOT AGREE MORE with TR when it comes to this statement regarding his favorite song in country music.
Eric Church’s debut album, “Sinners Like Me” does not have a bad song on it. I can make you a pretty good argument that it is one of the greatest debut albums-any musical genre-of all time.
One of the things that makes it truly magical is that so many of its best songs never saw the light of day on the radio. Don’t get me started on this. Let’s just say that record company’s sometime make the wrong decisions as to what song will resonate with the public. And they often make these decisions without consulting us…who are in the business of what resonates with the public.
Anyway, “These Boots” is one of those songs. It is everything that Thomas Rhett says and more. I love that it ends unapologetically “real.” The singer of the song doesn’t do what he knows and what we think he will and should do. It’s really a perfect song.
I’ve included the lyric video of it below if you’ve never heard it or just want to bask in its greatness again.
