New Bride Demands Guests Spend at Least $400 on Wedding Gifts
This woman would no longer be my friend. Most of us know the feeling of looking at a wedding registry and seeing if there’s an option to sort by the price. (I admit I’ve done it) It’s not like we don’t love our friends, but times are tough.
Well, a woman posted a gift list on Facebook, which was packed with luxury items, including Gucci or Louis Vuitton purses, new floor tiles for the entire house, a new car, any ‘HIGH CLASS’ paintings or decorations, or if you want just $400 in cash.
“$400 or more gift cards to the following places: ‘Fifth Sak’s Avenue, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Calvin Klein, Gucci, Whole Foods, Sprouts, [and] maybe even JCPenney’ . . . and ‘any KitchenMaid appliances over $350.’”
The woman went on to list the specific – and very expensive – presents:
- Any KitchenAid appliance over $US350, does NOT mean kitchen items like an apron or a spatula. I’m talking about their stand mixer, blender, etc.
- Any Gucci or Louis Vuitton purses. Other purses are allowed but please consult me first.
- Any clothes over $US400 from Calvin Klein, Moschino, or Nora’s
- New floor tiles for the entire house (I know this one is a bit of a stretch, but I’d gladly appreciate it)
- A new car or a new trim for my car, or anything in relation to the care
- $US400 or more gift cards to any of the following places: Sak’s Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Calvin Klein, Gucci, Whole Foods, Sprouts, maybe even JC Penny. Other places are acceptable but please talk to me first.
- Any HIGH-CLASS paintings or decorations totaling $US400 or more
- A cash gift of $US400 or more
She said guests must pick items off this list, or “consult her first,” and added, quote, “There are no exceptions . . . I am expecting everyone to spend at least $400.” She said she’ll “accept slightly lower amounts,” but you have to ask her first. I do not understand people sometimes…really what nerve!
