Cole Swindell’s Breathtaking On Stage Tribute To His Late Mother
Several years ago, Cole Swindell wrote a fantastic tribute to his father upon his death. I still don’t know why “You Should Be Here” did not win every award that year. Even if you HADN’T lost someone close to you, the lyrics touched your soul.
“You’d be taking way too many pictures on your phone.
Showing them off to everybody that you know back home.
And even some you don’t, yeah
They say now you’re in a better place
And I would be too if I could see your face.
You should be here, standing with your arm around me here.
Cutting up, cracking a cold beer, saying cheers, hey, y’all it’s sure been a good year.
It’s one of those moments, that’s got your name written all over it.
And you know that if I had just one wish it’d be that you didn’t have to miss this.
Aw you should be here.”
Well, last week, Cole Swindell lost his mother. He returned to the stage Saturday nigh opening for Thomas Rhett. I bet, in the back of his head, he was thinking all night about what he was going to do-what he was going to say-when it came time for this song in his set. This tribute…you just know his mom and dad were looking down proudly.
