These are the Most Boring Christmas Movies and TV Shows

There is nothing better than snuggling by the fire and watching a good holiday movie. As there are so many streaming services and content choices available, it is already difficult for us to decide what to watch. What is the frequency of watching disappointing TV shows and movies?

We should cross off the ‘to watch’ list of the most boring TV shows and movies according to a new study by Uswitch which analyzed IMDb reviews for negative phrases. Christmas is just around the corner, so picking a Christmas movie can be one of the most difficult choices. In the study, IMDb was used to determine the worst Christmas TV shows and movies to avoid this holiday season. You can see more on the full study here.

• 1. “Star Wars Christmas Holiday Special”

  We have all heard of the epic multimedia franchise Star Wars, which has flooded our screens since 1977. As the first spin-off show, Star Wars Holiday Special joined the franchise shortly thereafter in 1978, we found that fans were left disappointed as it ranks very high on our list. In addition to the negative reviews, the show also has an embarrassing IMDB score of just 2.2/10.

• 2. “Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever”

  The internet sensation Grumpy Cat came in second place for the most boring Christmas TV shows and movies. The film follows the Cat's worst Christmas ever. Not only was Grumpy Cat, well, grumpy, but viewers as well as it was described as "certainly leaving you grumpy". However, our study found that the film received 35% negative reviews because of its "low budget" and "flimsy plot".

• 3. “The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause”

  The Santa Clause was released in 1994 and has since become a Christmas classic. Due to its popularity, it spawned two sequels. Audiences, however, did not like The Santa Clause 3, giving the film a score below 112. Due to its "predictable" plot and "anti-climatic" ending, viewers deemed this sequel their "least favorite Santa Claus movie."
• 4. “Deck the Halls”

  Sadly, 2006's Deck the Halls "did not have enough spirit to make this film remotely employable". The study found that 27.72% of the reviews we collected included negative phrases in what is meant to be a fun festive flick, but completely failed to connect with audiences. While Danny DeVito stars in the film, he was unable to save it from poor reviews. "Comedy without humour", ouch!

• 5. “Love The Coopers”

  The top five most boring Christmas TV shows and movies are rounded off by Love the Coopers, which aired six years ago. The love was short-lived as reviewers expressed how "super boring" the film was. Steven Rogers, who wrote the global classic P.S. I Love You, was a huge success, so fans expected more from this Christmas film. However, audiences disliked the narration and noted that the film had "more sneers than cheers". One viewer even posted a screenshot of their partner's apology messages on Twitter after watching the movie.

• 6. “The Perfect Holiday”

  During the holidays, Nancy (Gabrielle Union), a divorced mother of three, feels especially lonely. Nancy's youngest daughter, Emily (Khail Bryant), senses her mother's sadness and devises a plan to make her happy again. Benjamin (Morris Chestnut), a department-store Santa Claus, pays Nancy a compliment. Benjamin, who is also a struggling songwriter, knows exactly what to say.
