Canada Now Requires Vaccination To Buy Booze And Weed
On one hand I find this story amusing on the surface. It’s kind of like a grown-up version of your mother telling you that you have to finish your vegetables before you can even think about having dessert. On the other hand, this is one of the scariest stories I’ve seen in a while. Okay, here’s the deal. Canada (like the rest of the world) is seeing a predominance of critical care Covid-19 patients in its ICUs with one common trait: they are unvaccinated against the virus. And now, our neighbors to the north are prohibited from buying alcohol or marijuana unless they can show proof of vaccination.
At this point, I’m pretty clear with where I stand on this. If you want the vaccine, that’s your choice. If you don’t, that’s also your choice. Either way, I respect it. However, I refuse to have my life inconvenienced in any way by another’s choice. That being said, I’m 100% against “mandates” of any kind. After trusting our leaders and shutting down life for two weeks to “flatten the curve” that turned into MONTHS of economic destruction in 2020…NEVER AGAIN. Our forefathers fought the War of Independence in the 18th Century to ensure that one man/woman could not impose his/her will by proclamation. No President, no Governor should have that power. Period. That’s not how we roll. What’s frightening to me is I can very easily see what Canada has done being imposed here. And where does that end? Scary.
