Jordan Davis Crashes Wedding Reception, Plays “Buy Dirt” As First Dance
This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in the new year. Jordan Davis on Friday night has just finished playing “Buy Dirt” on “The Tonight Show w/Jimmy Fallon.” If you didn’t know, those shows are taped in the late afternoon, so there’s plenty of time to kill in the metropolitan NYC area afterward. Most artists would take the opportunity to grab dinner or maybe a Broadway show. Jordan Davis? Well, he got wind of a wedding reception taking place in New Jersey (about 1/2 hour away) where “Buy Dirt” was scheduled to be the couple’s first dance. So, why not just show up. tell the DJ to take a break, and play it live?!
Among the many things I love about country music, near the top is this kind of thing. Can you imagine Drake or Kanye or Billie Eilish, etc. doing this? Not a chance. Congrats to the young couple. Welcome to the marriage adventure and good on you Jordan Davis for getting their journey off to a most memorable start.
