Now There’s A Support Hotline From Kindergartners
Every now and again, adults should take life notes from kindergartners. It truly is easy to lose sight of some things. As a parent of a nearly grown child, it’s easy to lose sight of this. What? The emotional and psychological impact that the perils of society have on our young children. I’ve said many times that I am so thankful my son’s primary education was not affected by the pandemic. He only had two months left of his senior year so the nightmares of remote learning, isolation, etc. were things we didn’t have to deal with. Well, the pandemic has now given way to stunning inflation and war. And it’s not just the kids who are hurting. Adults are in pain as well. There’s a definite mental health crisis in the world. These are heavy times. And a California school has decided to do something about it. That’s right, THE KIDS are here to help us!
Peptoc is a free hotline that is a project from the students of West Side Elementary, a small school in the town of Healdsburg, California. It was put together with the help of teachers Jessica Martin and Asherah Weiss. Art teacher, Martin was inspired by her students’ positive attitudes, despite all they’ve been through. So, the next time you need a pick me up? Dial Peptoc at 707-998-8410.
