Did A Cryptocurrency Nerd REALLY Get Away With Stealing $250 Millon?
“Either I know a guy who screwed up and lost a quarter billion, or I know a guy who pulled off one of the greatest crimes in history.” That’s the tagline on the trailer for the new Netflix documentary (really, no one does better or more compelling docs than them right now), “Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King.”
Gerald Cotten was one of the founders of Quadriga, an online marketplace for purchasing crypto currency. Cotten mysteriously “died” at age 30. I put that in quotes as apparently there are many who think he faked his death as he took hundreds of millions of dollars of people’s money with him as he was the sole possessor of the passwords for his software. Ooops. Now, a group of investors turned sleuths try to unlock the suspicious circumstances around Cotten’s passing and, yes, the quarter billion missing dollars. “Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King” begins streaming on Netflix 3/30.
