Why Keeping Your Relationship With Taylor Swift On The DL Is Good
For a long time, Taylor Swift was going thru relationships like I do socks. Then, actor, Joe Alwyn came along. Alwyn is a very quiet, unassuming guy. Even professionally, he’s that guy in the movie that you say, “Oh yeah…that guy.” You see him in a lot of things, but he doesn’t dominate the screen. He’s just a solid piece of the puzzle. For example, here he is in the trailer for the ensemble movie, “Conversations with Friends.”
Very chill. Very low-key. Anyway, Alwyn and Taylor Swift have been together for many years and, no surprise, he’s very quiet on his personal life too. “It’s not really [because I] want to be guarded and private, it’s more a response to something else.” says Alway, “We live in a culture that is so increasingly intrusive… The more you give—and frankly, even if you don’t give it—something will be taken.” Taylor shared the same sentiment when she opened up about her personal life in an interview in 2019. She said, “I’ve learned that if I do, people think it’s up for discussion, and our relationship isn’t up for discussion. If you and I were having a glass of wine right now, we’d be talking about it—but it’s just that it goes out into the world. That’s where the boundary is, and that’s where my life has become manageable. I really want to keep it feeling manageable.” Good for them. That’s the most mature celebrity statement on social media and privacy I’ve read in some time. Maybe ever.
