Rascal Flatts Lead Singer Returns With New Solo Record
You are who you are and you do what you do. Players play. Talkers talk. And Singers sing. When Rascal Flatts called it quits during the pandemic, it was never a question of if we’d hear from lead singer Gary LeVox again, it was when and how. Last year he released a very good, gospel EP, “One on One.” I really thought that was the direction he was gonna take and stay. And then this surprise showed up yesterday. Written by Thomas Rhett and Hardy, (along with Jesse Frasure and Ashley Gorley), “Get Down Like That” shows LeVox getting back in a familiar groove.
“Well hey, if you’re with me / If you wanna take it out of the city / Get a little bit more nitty gritty / Do some midnight fishing and some moonlight kissing / Come on, let’s ride / Dance on the land of the milk and honey / Down here we do it up right,” One thing I did notice here, and it’s a good thing. LeVox is no longer going thru the vocal Olympics he was known for early in RF’s career. Look, that’s a natural thing. As you age, there are very few people who are able to hit notes that they could 20-30 years ago. Think Steve Perry, former lead singer of Journey. There was never anything like him in his prime. Wow, what a singer…and the notes he could hit?! When Steve Perry performs those songs now, it’s in a lower key. What do you think?
