McDonald’s Brings Back A Bit Of Nostalgia For Halloween
I have to admit I may be a bit this side of remembering this item the first time around. After all, I was in high school in 1986 when McDonald’s first introduced the Halloween Happy Meal pumpkin pails. However, I love Halloween. And, you’re never too old for treats! The fast food chain reportedly will bring back the item this year. It will be their first appearance since 2016. Over the years the item underwent tweaks and hiatuses. They were first offered as a classic trio of jack-o-lanterns known as McPunk’n, McBoo and McGoblin.
The Halloween Happy Meal pails had a makeover in 1989, adding a white glow-in-the-dark ghost and green witch. At some point, treat bags replaced the buckets. Some themed designs through the years have included Potato Head, Scooby Doo and Minions. And, Peanuts fans certainly remember the comic strip themed pails celebrating It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Like many fast food restaurants, McDonald’s periodically introduces limited time menu items. Most recently, the McCafe Bakery lineup rolled out a seasonal pastry. And, who can forget the McRib? The Halloween Happy Meal Pails are expected to be available from October 18 through Halloween at participating restaurants.
